A V6 1LE. That's Interesting. Oh look, a V8...

It’s actually kind of interesting that Chevy will offer a 1LE package on the V6. I wonder how much more desirable those will be eventually on the used market. It feels like this package is almost like an entry-level tuner pack: LSD, upgraded brakes, upgraded fuel system, and upgraded suspension. If you were looking to add... I don’t know... a supercharger? Then you’ve got a pretty good base to start with.

I’d still rather have the V8 though.

I much rather take the V6. It right in the sweet spot (320hp-350hp) where it is not overpowered, but not underpowered. It also sounds incredible.

One the web: “I’d rather have the V8.”

At the dealership staring ~$900 or so a month for 60 months down the barrel: “You want how much for it? I...uhh. Hmm. So...you got any V6s left?”

If the gen 5s are any indication, they will be scarce and somewhat desirable among enthusiasts, though not enough to command a premium. If you try to trade in at a dealer, they will treat it like any other manual V8 (or in this case, V6).

Basically, hard to find used, but if you do, you could get a good deal.

Who wants to bet this is faster than the GT350?

Probably not. The Camaro SS 1LE is 200 pounds heavier than the V6 1LE, which is about 3500 pounds, thus making the SS 1LE about 3700 pounds. The GT350 clocks in at 3,781 but it also comes with a 71 hp advantage over the LT1. Is the 1LE faster than a performance/track-packaged Mustang that isn’t the GT350? Probably, but not faster than a Shelby.

Despite the 71 hp difference the Standard SS is quicker to 60 and has a faster quarter mile time. The tires on the 1LE are also massive and sticky the suspension on the Alpha platform is far and above the GT350

Right, having a fatter torque curve helps with acceleration from a standstill. I’ll wait and see what the head-to-head lap times have to say about tires and suspension.
